It has been told to me many many times. it true practice does make perfect. Especially with photography. When you get new equipment, which many of us have since Christmas just passed. So break it out and use it, use it until you feel comfort and see consistency. You can never shoot too much and the more you do the better you get.
Take time to take a workshop, a class, read an article on lighting. Anything to up the bar.
But with all that the ONLY and BEST way to up your personal bar is too shoot.
