Digital Photography Demands Makeup in HD

1080i, high resolution, hi-def or HD… the mere mention of these innovations causes brows to raise, but HD does have one fatal flaw -- although visually appealing, it is very unforgiving to models and makeup artists alike.

Call it a sign of the times, but professional photography has almost completely been revamped by the digital age. The days of 35mm film are behind us and makeup artists have to be at pace with the new platinum standard in fashion photography. HD photography picks up the true translucency of the skin as well as true texture. High definition makeup was created with this in mind.

HD formulated cosmetics contain ambient light reactive, photo-chromatic pigments that make the skin look equally flawless in candlelight, daylight, and even harsh fluorescent light. The photo-chromatic, or light reflective, pigments have the ability to give skin a more youthful appearance look by reflecting light away from fine lines and wrinkles. Also, HD formulas leave the skin with a healthy matte finish and do not contain glitter or mineral pigments that cast a white light when captured with flash photography.

It was once widely believed that high definition makeup could only be achieved by airbrushing, but now makeup brands such as Cargo, Make Up For Ever, Smashbox, and NARS are leading the HD trend. An airbrush-like HD finish can be attained by applying cosmetics that are specifically designed for high definition photography. The secret to these outstanding finishes is the correct tools and lots of blending. The overall goal is for your HD makeup to appear natural and flawless.
